Adventure Racing
Adventure racing is a sport of the future. Especially in France and the US
this is the most growing and trendy sport. In France itself
there are over 600 competitions each year. Adventure racing is a team sport (2-4 people per team, each
team must contain at least one person from the opposite sex) in which you move from
point to point. The basic disciplines are:
Orientieering
Mountainbiking
Kayaking
Climbing/Adventure skills
Each of these sports can be repeated several times within the same race,
depending upon format and lenght of the particular race.
There can be also other disciplines such as hydrospeed, inline skating or canyoning.
This newly and fascinating sport of adventure racing attracks
the worlds best athletes: The best teams exist out of world champions
from sports such as triathlon, orienteering, winter triathlon,
canoeing, mountainbiking
etc...
The media interest is huge. Not just the spectacular pictures from
repelling, tyrolien travers or hydrospeed give inspirations, but also
reflection on team spirit, cameradery, stamina and
mother natures beauty.
Adventure racing is for everybody. For the beginner as well as for the
professional. There are races that take 2-4 hours, whereas other races such as
Raid Gauloise or
Eco Challenges last until 7 days. But short or long: the experiences
are the same:
team spirit, cameradery, physical and mental challenges and all that
while facing the elements.
